SKYWISE - Cold cold Earth Ah, the new SKYWISE! After a great debut via DAREDEVIL RECORDS some years ago (2001) and their self-released second output GIVE THE DEVIL HIS BREW in 2004, the Italian band is back with new output and the change into a more evil, more dramatic style. They left behind the shorter Stoner Rock numbers and are now into a more dramatic, slower and heavier sound-collage. Sounds like a slow and heavy black mass. The 12 minute opener AVE ATQUE VALE starts with a Doom Metal monster riff and turns into a slow Doom Metal Song. The vocals from Francesco are rough and emotional. DEVIL`S BARGAIN start with some scary melodies and again the slow groove will let you die! The song got surrounded by a magic atmosphere and the punching groove will be a pleasure for all Doom heads in the world. 10 minutes of pure Doom! COLD COLD EARTH is a spoken introduction for the next song called BUT THE EARTH WAS HOLLOW. BUT THE EARTH WAS HALLOW is the fastest song on COLD COLD EARTH; still slow and Doom Metal, but with a little drive. And RAISE THE DEAD features some slow Stoner Rock riffs and more screamed vocals. All in all a big surprise, a band which Doom Metal fans will love soon and I really hope that they can make a big step forward with that slow, groovy and never boring monster of an CD. Italia rules!
